The position serves as a strategic partner and advisor to the CEO and RBU Leadership Team, playing a key role in defining and implementing operational and strategic financial priorities. These include financial planning and analysis, achieving commercial objectives, managing projects, overseeing treasury functions, and maintaining robust reporting and controls. Additionally, the role is a core member of the Group Finance Leadership Team, supporting group-wide initiatives and ensuring their execution across the respective RBU and its member entities. Responsibilities span across supporting strategy implementation, managing monthly and yearly reporting for all JJLE entities, overseeing planning and management accounting, project accounting, treasury operations—including foreign exchange risk management (hedging)—and ensuring effective reporting and internal controls.
Responsibilities
General and Commercial
- A member of the RBU leadership team. Advises the team on any financial matters as basis for decision support and strategic planning and implementation.
- A member of the Group Finance Leadership Team. Is responsible for the implementation of group wide financial initiatives in the respective RBU (e.g. Treasury, Tax, ITC, and Commercial).
- Challenges business direction and contributes to operational decision making by using financial data.
- Acts as a catalyst for driving business transformation.
- Links strategic objectives of the RBU with the financial goals set.
- Leads and supervises the in-company FPA in the respective RBU entities and coaches them in all aspects of financial controlling.
- Designs and maintains structures (approval, reporting, tax etc.) for new companies, or new divisions/departments for existing/restructured companies. Ensures that tax, financial and ITC matters are taken care of in collaboration with central services.
Planning and Management Accounting
- Evaluates business decisions and projects with regards to the financial impact for the RBU or for local strategic projects.
- Leads and coordinates the forecasting and budgeting process for the respective RBU for the short and mid-term plans according to group and RBU requirements and timelines. Prepares and presents the financial assumptions and performance to the regional RBU leadership team and Executive Board (EB) /CFO.
- Supports the RBU leadership team in setting financials goals and establishes a reporting against those.
- Manages cost control and expense management and tracks performance against targets defined.
- Performs regular financial analysis, simulations and reports them pro-actively to the RBU leadership team and to Group finance.
- Pro-actively highlights, understands and flags financial challenges to the RBU leadership team and / or Group Finance as appropriate
- Reviews areas for financial or process improvements, aligns them to Group requirements and policies, defines actions for and manages implementation.
- Provides financial solutions to changed requirements in operation, policies, legal requirements etc.
Project Costing and Inventory Management
- Ensures correct accounting for projects, including provisions for cost-to-complete, liabilities for non-conformance, mechanical warranties, any hidden liabilities as well as payment and process risks according to prevailing policies.
- Develops control measures to ensure the commercial milestones are followed across the region for timely billing of downpayments, progressive claims, retention amounts and work in progress.
- Reviews inventory valuation (if any) to ensure compliance to Group policies and accounting standards, make sure they have accurate quantities and are properly valued.
- Monitors stock aging, computes and reviews obsolete inventory provisions, reports inventory development to regional team and highlight effects of provisions on the profitability of the business.
Treasury
- Proactively optimises FX risk and exposures for the RBU in accordance with the applied policies
- Overseas and vets payment terms in commercial contracts
- Oversees and monitors together with local teams working capital (DSO, stocks, AP) and cash positions for entities.
- Consolidates and reviews cash-flow forecasts to ensure pro-active management of cash needs or cash overruns.
- Manages cash deposits for cash on hand to ensure best returns for the company.
Reporting and Controls
- Manages the financial risk management of the RBU. Overseas compliance within the RBU, such as compliance to DoA and internal controls.
- Ensures timely implementation of Internal Audit findings in cooperation with respective management team, company management and FPA.
- Develops and strengthens finance skills within the RBU.
- Provides financial consulting to Company Managers and Department Managers and facilitates knowledge sharing within the RBU and with other RBUs if applicable.
- Supports preparation of board and other relevant presentations materials.
Qualifications
- Master or Bachelors Degree in Finance
- Ideally 8-10 years’ experience in a leading managerial position in controlling or similar function (corporate finance, business services) with a multinational corporation, and exposure to SEA/AP region, however still with hands-on capabilities and interest.
- Deep knowledge of financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, costing and business processes as well as local and global GAAP and IFRS. Being able to build business plans (translating business initiative and strategies into numbers and vice versa), establish tailor-made, and target driven management reporting.
- Experience in being a business partner to senior executive management (CEO/CFO/SVP/Regional CEO etc). Preferably having worked towards shareholders.
- Experience within project business.
- Experience with multiple global entities
- Experience with FX management, including BG’s, Hedging, intercompany FX management etc.
- Ability to lead and work with an international and multicultural team on all levels.
- Able to drive and implement strategic projects and initiatives either from a corporate instruction into the business unit or from within the business unit.
- Experience in M&A projects and related tasks an advantage (due diligence, integration, etc)
- Experience in restructuring, change management, organizational reviews and legal set-ups in the countries necessary.
- Good, hands-on SAP and SAP BW / BPC / TMS knowledge and Microsoft Office skills, in particular Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
